Four Root Causes of Negative Emotions

Negative emotions, fear, self-pity, envy, jealousy and anger hold us back, tie us down and suck the joy out of life.  So how do we fight these joy killers?  We have to get to the root causes.  What are the root causes?  These emotions cost us more then joy, they can literally kill the alcoholic addict.  So we MUST attack the ROOT.

Justification –  Negativity is alive only as long as we can convince ourselves that we are entitled to be angry or jealous or fearful.  Unhappy people stay unhappy through the endless explanation and elaboration of the incredible unfairness of their situation.

Rationalization – Self-deception at its best.  The wordy spin of deceipt in an attempt to create some plausible explanation for socially unacceptable acts and maintain a cloak of rightousness to keep anyone or anything from challenging our ego.

Blaming – Not owning our part in things is so detrimental to our happiness.  We spend exhausting amounts of time blaming others for every little thing and all the while we fall deeper into negativity and emotional turmoil.

Poor Self-Esteem – Over sensitive to others opinions and making things they say, mean things they don't.  This behavior just anhilates relationships and creates such a negative energy that it is almost impossible to extend a loving hand for fear it will be bitten off.  Negative self talk is rampid in this situation and learning how to change the mental conversation does a lot to change this issue.

Overcoming these issues can seem really daunting but there is actually a very simple anecdote.  You need to say only three words.  I AM RESPONSIBLE.
